Dr Maurice Pisciottano : Contents of a good report written by chiropractors

Report writing for any medical doctor is a legal requirement to ensure accountability of the life of patients. Mechanical Motion Therapy treatment involves treatment of the spine and joints using no medicine which hence requires that the chiropractor examine the state the patient came in and diagnosis done. This information should be presented in a report that is addressed to a higher authority in medical field, says Dr Moe Pisciottano. There is a format in which the report should compile and below are the basic contents that the report should contain.

1.      Basic information of the patient, chiropractor and the senior doctor

This refers to information about the identification of those in the report. The names and address. The name of the author of the report, qualification and achievements and all the details that identify the participants and the date the report was written.

2.      Medical history

This refers to the background history of the patient, treatment given so far, how they are at the moment and possible diagnosis established. A chiropractor is expected to find out during the counselling session the causes of the problem and if the patient has tried treatment elsewhere. This is because some of the spine or joint problems are caused by violence or accidents and reports of search should be recorded appropriately. If the patient had undergone a previous treatment in another facility, they should have a report written by the doctor in charge regarding the treatment given. This helps to establish the best way the patient should be handled.

3.      Treatment given

The other very basic content that the report must include is the treatment given. Most chiropractors use both the auto and manual treatment based on the patient's preference or ability. These two methods produce different results hence it is important to clarify if it was manual treatment or you used the pro-adjuster machine to treat.
Report findings are a necessity and each chiropractor should know how to write one, says Dr Maurice Pisciottano.
