Dr Moe Pisciottano : Challenges of auditing a chiropractic business

The way different issues should be approached depends on the environment in which they are being exercised. This tells us that we have to be careful in addressing certain issues from different views. Dr Maurice Pisciottano on realizing the financial challenges chiropractors are going through introduced a good program to take them through some training for his experience. Besides the chiropractic procedure, there is need to have records of finances to ensure accountability. Let's discuss a number of challenges that may be experienced in auditing:

ü  Compromised auditor independence

When a business needs to be audited, it is always advisable for them to hire a team that is independent of the business. This is done to prevent any form of compromise during the audit. However even after hiring an independent auditor there is a possibility of the independence being compromised if the management has something to hide.

ü  Technical competence of the auditor

A competent auditor needs to have the technical skills of auditing. However, getting that qualified auditor who is competent enough to provide reliable and correct audit report is a challenge. This is because it is expensive to hire a skilled auditor. To become a competent auditor demands long sessions of learning and great investment in acquiring the experience hence the high cost.

ü  Lack of follow up programs

The Grow with Dr Moe program has largely emphasized on the importance of follow up programs in chiropractic practice. This is no different in auditing. The effectiveness of an audit report lies in the recommendation and following the recommendations. Not following the recommendations erodes the validity of the audit hence a waste of time and resources.

Matters to do with money issues will never lack especially in big organizations. Therefore it is with this knowledge that Dr Pisciottano came up with the program.
